Should I go visit him?

I was involved/dating this guy while I was at college for most of the school year. We broke up before returning home because we live really far apart and he had an ex with which he still had to resolve things with back home. I'm really good friends with his best friend and it seemed that during the later part of the year, he developed feelings for me. I was interested but never acted on it because I was in a relationship, but now I'm single. This friend has asked me to come visit him this summer in a nearby state where he'll be working. I want to go (whether we end up hooking up or not), but I'm not sure if I should. First off, there's the point that the guy and I might get back together come fall when we're back on campus (uncertain, but possible), and second, even if we don't, they're still good friends. So, is this something I should not do for these reasons, or are they irrelevant?
