Why cant i connect to friends in cod waw for the ps3 and why cant they connect to me?

I have a 20 GB PS3 and it only has a wired connection available i have it connected to my laptop (i use my laptop as a router for my ps3 because my modem is to far away from the ps3) and i cant join friends hosted games and they cant join mine whats going on can u guys help and im not looking forward to do all these technical stuff like change my ip adress im only 13 so any ways is there any simple way please explain THX
